Affinity's team captain Andrew LaCorte won the sprints this weekend at the 2011 US Masters Nationals, taking home a US National Stars and Stripes title on his team issue silver Affinity Kissena! This win brings Andrew's winning streak to 4 US National titles, and the Affinity Kissena now has 9 Elite, Masters and Junior national titles in just three years!
Andrew won every heat leading up to the finals!
In the first round of the finals, Andrew had the inside lane. He had a great push from Gil Hatton and lead the race from the sprinters lane, taking the first win in a best of three final.
In the second round, Andrew had the upper lane but had a great push by Gil Hatton. Andrew jockeyed for position right from the start, engaging in tactics and over taking first position within just a few meters.
This means Andrew will be leading out the sprint and taking the race to himself, leaving his opponent to be forced to come around him... if he can!
Andrew's tactic worked and he won the second round and took the US National title in just two rounds!!
During the parade lap, both riders congratulated one another and gave each other credit for a hard fought battle.
