Saturday Masters Series, June 19,2010

This past Saturday Affinity had two riders competing at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center (T-town) in the Masters category, Cameron Reider competing in his first masters race, and Jon Chambers.

First up was a 2k scratch race,  After a quick pre race discussion it was decided that Cam would ride at the front of the field to control attacks and and Jon would setup for the sprint.  As soon as the gun fired Cam took the front and pressed the pace just enough so no one wanted to attack, finally at 2 laps to go a rider tried to make a move, but Cam just picked up the pace and kept him close until 500 meters to go when Jon jumped and sprinted for the win.

Next up was the 15 Lap Points Race.  Cam was able to get in the break after the first sprint and Jon rode tempo on the front to hold up the field.  Cam stayed away and took two 3rd place sprints for a 4th place.

Last race was an unknown distance, Cam worked hard attacking twice unfortunately the bell wasn't rung until he was brought back in the the second time (we really wanted him to pull off a win). Luckily Jon was able to sprint for the win, which also earned Jon the overall omnium win, not a bad day of racing for Affinity!
