Affinity Elite Riders Dave Espinoza and Dan Sullivan have departed this morning to meet up with Affinity elite CA resident rider Alex Farioletti. The three will contend the Testarossa Velodrome Challenge in San Jose's Hellyer Velodrome against some of the fastest riders in the country.
The last time Affinity raced at Hellyer Velodrome was during the Master National Championships in 2008 where we took home the Gold metal in the Sprints.
The TVC will be a tuff race to qualify for: In order to race in the TVC riders must have had a top-10 result at 2009 USAC National Elite Track Championships or the Elite National championships of the rider’s home country in Sprint, Keirin, Omnium, Scratch, or Points, is a member of a UCI pro team, road or track or have participate in any UCI World Cup or recognized UCI Track Championship event.
There are a few fast US riders in the mix that Alex, Dave, and Dan will face. Riders that have already competed at World Cups, or have competed against us before at other high level races within the country. But we have confidence that the team will do well and come up with top results.
There is also a Masters Keirin World title up for grabs if you are 40 plus years of age. Unfortunately our Masters Champ is not of age this year to compete and will not be competing in the elite event. If we had to guess what top master rider to to watch out for it would have to be Matt Definbach of Alliance who rides and trains with Affinity riders in TTOWN via the Velo Precision Training Group ran by Gil Haton and Bobby Livingston.
